The arch of L. Septimius Severus, probably dates from the emperor's visit to his native city in 203 AD. A four-way triumphal arch, it is set across the junction of the Cardo and the Decumanus Maximus. The design of the arch is unusual and the decoration consists of sharply drilled and incised carvings.
