Alnpete provided business and technical
consultancy on behalf of NatWest Group Security Services
for a number of projects around the NatWest Group
for over three and a half years years. Foremost among these was
the development of strategy for the Group Public Key Infrastructure
(PKI); design of security mechanisms, including the use of the Group
PKI, for online services; security risk assessments of various services
especially e–commerce, online banking and those using new delivery
channels such as WAP and new technology such as MetaTrust; and evaluation
of tokens for use as authentication devices in online services.
Alnpete was retained by the Royal
Bank of Scotland Group following their take-over of NatWest
to continue to provide consultancy to the Group Information Security
department for a year and a half, especially on security aspects
of the integration of mobile and online banking services.
Alnpete was retained by Barclays'
Group Technology Office to perform a variety of security assessments
around the Barclays Group, including conducting a high-level IT
Security risk and threat assessment at Barclaycard;
reviewing threats and countermeasures for Internet applications
at Barclays UK Banking; assessing proposed fraud prevention
technologies across various Barclays services.

Alnpete was retained by APACS
to perform a feasibility study relating to authentication of online
banking customers, for the APACS Electronic Commerce
Group. Since then we have provided further consultancy to
APACS in a variety of e–commerce and security
related areas.
Alnpete has provided consultancy (in
conjunction with InterNetworking Strategies Limited) on WAP
security to Abbey National; network security to BACS;
and authentication to Barclays.
Alnpete has provided consultancy (in
conjunction with Symbiotic Consulting Services Limited) on
the effective use and management of PKI for securing financial services
at Nationwide Building Society; on PKI and its crucial
rôle in the inspection of ePassports for 3MRT.
Alnpete has provided consultancy (in
conjunction with TemporalS Limited) on PKI and its
rôle in ePassport production to De La Rue and
various governments; on the use of PKI in the inspection of ePassports
to help TemporalS develop their own products.
Alnpete has provided technical and
security consultancy to reputational risk strategy
in the development and application of a reputational risk management
methodology and its implementation in a software tool; as well as
consultancy to their clients in the assessment of reputational risk.
